This project involves the proposition of building a small clean room lab to engage in gourmet and medicinal mushroom production. This may include amongst others, truffles and cordyceps sinensis, one of the most sought after medicinal mushrooms that comes to being in a symbiosis with silk worms and fungus.
In true permaculture fashion the lab can be adapted for other uses, meaning that each element can serve multiple functions. The lab can be used for practice of tissue culture, which also requires a clean room. The lab can allow for speedy multiplication of plants required in the implementation of a permaculture design using locally adopted plants. Plants that may be exotic to Australia but have been living in the local climatic zone for a long period of time and have therefore adopted to the local climate.
